Thomas Pausz is a speculative designer and artist exploring the poetics and ethics of multispecies coexistence through experimental media practice. 

His scenarios based on immersive research in specific ecosystems create “frictions” between life forms and appropriate technologies, probing the haunted intersections between biodiversity, technodiversity, and environmental ethics. 

In 2022–24 Thomas was appointed Stanley Picker Fellow in Art & Design for the project Haunted Ecologies.

In 2022–23 he was an artist in residence at the Laboratoire Modulaire (Caen, Fance), a structure dedicated to artistic practices in digital spaces for the project Species Without Spaces.

He was previously an artist in residence at the Delfina Foundation (London, UK), participated in the Srishti Interim Artists programme (Bangalore, India) and is a former Fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (DE). 

Thomas graduated from the Master at the Royal College of Arts (London), after completing his undergraduate studies in philosophy and media studies at Sorbonne University (Paris). He also worked as a set and lighting designer for contemporary dance and performance companies in London.
